Elaine was born and grew up in Providence, RI, the daughter of the late Carmine and Yvette (Bolduc) Caliri. She moved to the Seneca Falls/Waterloo area in 1968 and settled down to raise her family. She had previously been employed as an LPN but once her children were born, she decided to stay at home and spend her time taking care of her family. Once her children were older, she again took employment as an LPN with Seneca Nursing Home and continued her career there until she retired almost a decade later.

Elaine loved music and was particularly fond of the music from her youth, especially from the 50's and 60's. She also loved to curl up on the couch or in a comfortable chair to read a good book. She was a person of strong faith and was a lifelong practicing Catholic. Elaine is survived by her sons, Christopher and Matthew (Sarah) Stowell; daughter, Alicia Stowell; brother, Michael Caliri; sister, Diane (Jeffrey) Klausner; two nieces, one nephew, and four great-nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Maria Caliri.
