Seneca Falls - Alan E. "Skip" Higby, 68 of Route 89, Seneca Falls, NY, died, unexpectedly, on Monday (January 30, 2017) while vacationing in Redington Shores, Florida. A celebration of Skip's life will be held at a place, date and time to be announced at a later date. Interment will be at the convenience of the family. There will be no prior calling hours. Skip was born in Olean, NY on August 17, 1948 the son of the late Lloyd & Lois Harter Higby. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Viet Nam War. He was a retired lineman for Rochester Gas and Electric in Filmore, NY and had been residing in Seneca Falls since 2009 coming from Short Tract, NY in Allegany County. He was an avid bow hunter and banjo player. He loved the sports of archery, hunting, fishing, and target shooting. He was an excellent woodworker and enjoyed taking his metal detector out in hunt of a possible treasure. He was a professional diver, a Caribou Guide, a crewman on a hot air balloon and flew a powered parachute. He loved the outdoors and his adventures with friends, especially his buddy, "Drew". He is survived by: His wife, Karen Painter Higby of Seneca Falls, whom he married on August 28, 1982 2 sisters - Adele Lincourt - Dansville, NY Alane (Larry) Gessel - Clarksville, NY Several nieces, nephews, cousins, and his many friends whom he enjoyed his sports and hobbies with.
