Andrew Filipek

Andrew Filipek, 69, formerly known as “Andy”, longtime resident of Seneca Falls, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Tuesday, October 15th, 2024. In keeping with Andrew’s wishes, a private service will be held at the convenience of his family.

Andrew was born in Krakow, Poland, the only child of the late Jan and Stanislawa (Smutek) Filipek. Andrew was a lifelong thinker and tinkerer who liked to work with electronics. After his primary schooling he went on to secondary school at the Krakow Electronic and Electrical Institute, where he expanded his electronic knowledge. It was during this period he came to be acquainted with Krystyna Magiera, and the two would end up in marriage on June 3rd, 1978 at St. Nicholas Church in Krakow and a few years later the couple came to the United States, where they called Seneca Falls home. Andrew worked for IEC Electronics and Newark and Goulds Pumps in Seneca Falls over the years before he retired.

In addition to his love of family and all things electronics, Andrew enjoyed building computers, playing with gadgets, listening to rock music of the 60’s and 70’s, playing guitar, tending to his rose garden that he loved to photograph, taking pictures of his beloved house cats (he had a big heart for animals), and spending time with the close friends he made over years. Andrew also had a knack for striking up lighthearted conversations with those he interacted with throughout his day, and he enjoyed having the opportunity to put a smile on someone’s face.

Andrew is survived by his wife, Krystyna; dearest daughter, Marta; sister-in-law, Lucyna Pflaum and her family; two beloved cats, Ally and Rys; as well as his cherished work friends and extended family in Poland.
