Antonio "Tony" Scialdone, 92, longtime resident of Seneca Falls, passed away peacefully with his family by his side on Wednesday, September 27th, 2023 at the Homestead at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital in Penn Yan. Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 7th from 10AM - 12 Noon with a Funeral Service to immediately follow at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Donations in memory may be made to SMS Lodge, 95 Ovid St., Seneca Falls 13148 or to the Homestead at Soldiers & Sailors Memorial Hospital, 418 N. Main St., Penn Yan, NY 14527.
Tony was born in Vitulazio, Italy, the son of the late John and Carmela (Ciccarelli) Scialdone. He served in both the Italian Army and the German Army before emigrating to the United States, specifically Seneca Falls. Before coming to the United States he was united in marriage with the former Maria DiLillo. In his younger years, Tony was a very active member at the SMS Lodge where he enjoyed the camaraderie of his friends and all that the lodge had to offer. For years he played in the bocce and euchre leagues around town and was also a former member of Rumseyville Sportsman's Club. For over 21 years, he volunteered at the annual St. Anthony's Italian Festival. Those that knew Tony, knew of his enjoyment with being around others and the satisfaction he found in enjoying a glass of good wine. He was also a longtime member of St. Patrick's Church in Seneca Falls.
Antonio is survived by his wife, Maria; sons, John (Michele), Sam, Anthony (Donna), Michael; daughters, Carmela (Stephen) Kemak and Valentina Scialdone; ten grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; brothers, Armando and Fioravant (Susan); dear friend, Neil Sassano, and several nieces and nephews and extended family. He was predeceased by a sister, Luisa Dirubo and brothers, Andy, Mario, and Michael.
