Barbara was born in Oswego, NY, the only daughter of the late Richard and Virginia (Lewis) Stone. The family moved to Seneca Falls when she was a young age and she attended Mynderse Academy, graduating with the class of 1956. She furthered her education at SUNY Oswego and later received her master’s in education from SUNY Cortland. She was united in marriage with the late Willis E. Rhinehart in November of 1963. Willis passed in 2020 after a unity of 63 years.
Barbara spent the majority of her teaching career at Waterloo High School, where she taught Phys Ed and coached volleyball, basketball, and softball. She was an avid sports fan through and through. Even after retirement, Barbara kept up with youth sports by refereeing volleyball, and then later in life, she was her grandkid’s biggest fan in whatever sports they played. Other hobbies that Barb enjoyed were reading, puzzles, crossword puzzles, and her lifelong passion for playing bridge.
For Barb, she was able to bring her biggest hobbies and interests and use them to help build a close relationship with her family. From the family vacations and cruises to the card games or sports games, it all revolved around her love for her family and bringing them together, and that’s what was truly important to her.
Barbara is survived by her daughter, Debra (Brian) Rickerson; sons, Richard (Laurel) and Mike (Melanie) Rhinehart; grandchildren, Morgan, Christopher (Stephanie) Rickerson, Noah, Adam “AJ”, William, Riley Rhinehart; five great-grandchildren; brother, David A. Stone. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her brother, Ronald Stone, and sister-in-law, Lola H. Stone.
