Betty Louise Bennett (Phillips Roberts), the heart of our family, went to be with the Lord on April 15, 2025 at home surrounded by her family.
Betty was born in the Seneca Falls Hospital on October 17, 1941, one of eight children to the late Lewis M. and Gladys M. (Shoemaker) Bennett. She grew up in Montezuma and went to Port Byron school until she was 14, when they moved to Savannah. Betty graduated from Savannah high school in 1959 and married Francis G. Phillips Jr. They raised 8 children: Cynthia (Shane) Loncosky, Christine Roberts, Francis Phillips III, Betsy (Bob) Baldwin, Gerald Phillips, Joseph (Julie) Phillips, Todd (Melanie) Phillips, and Kimberly (David) Krieger. She later married Michael Roberts and gained 3 more daughters: Julie (Mark) Carey, Michele (Jim) Liddle, Shanon (Mike) Dingman.
Betty loved being a mom. While living in Savannah and raising her children, she also took on 6 other children in what you would now call a daycare! She didn’t get her driver’s license until she was 33 years old and then went to work at the potato farm, the Ski Lodge, cut flag, picked cherries, picked apples. She worked at the knitting mill in Seneca Falls, Parker & Hannifin in Clyde, and Guaranteed Parts in Union Springs. Her last and most rewarding job was her 17 years at Seneca Nursing Home. Betty was recognized twice as employee of the year for taking great care of the residents.
Betty is survived by her 6 siblings, 7 children, 20 grandchildren, and 13 great grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, Betty was predeceased by her husbands, one infant brother, her son Jerry, and her grandson Staff Sergeant Francis Gene Phillips IV.
Calling hours will be held on Sunday, April 27th from 3 – 5 PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. A funeral service will be held on Monday, April 28th at 11 AM at the funeral home. She will be laid to rest in Springbrook Cemetery. A celebration of life will follow at Lake Country Christian Church, 68 Swift St, Waterloo, NY.
