Carman Sivill Bradshaw

Seneca Falls - Carman Sivill Bradshaw, 71, passed away at her home, Friday, (Sept. 27, 2013). There will be no prior calling hours. Family and friends may attend a memorial service Saturday, (October 5, 2013) at 12:00 PM at The United Methodist Church, State St Seneca Falls, NY. with Reverend Eleanor Collingsworth , Pastor, Officiating. The family has asked friends and family to join them for a time of remembrance, at 132 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY, Monday - Friday (September 30 - October 4) from 5-8pm. In Lieu of flowers, the family has requested that you plant a tree in Carman's honor or take the time to visit a friend. Carman was born March 5, 1942 in Muskogee, Oklahoma to Eileen Russell and James D. Sivill of South Sioux City, Nebraska where they returned shortly after Carmen's birth. After her marriage in 1961, Carman moved to Seneca Falls in 1962. Her son, Eugene Barry Bradshaw III, was born in 1963. The couple had three daughters in following years. She was Janelle, Michelle, and Beth Anne's mother, with a big voice that was heard in and on many a sporting fields and gymnasiums throughout the area. Carman was a wife, mother, and volunteer. She could have been known as your Den Mother, Senior Girl Scout Leader, or Room Mother. Perhaps you knew her as a dispatcher for North Seneca Ambulance, the Red Cross Mass Care Unit, or as a board member of the United Methodist Church, United Way, Red Cross, North Seneca Ambulance, or as President of the Ecumenical Council of Churches. Maybe you knew her as the United Methodist Women District's resource person or the head cook for the UMC winter bazaar or Boy Scout annual dinners, for more than 5 years. You might have seen her in the Convention Day Re-enactment, marching in the parade or on stage with the Seneca Community Players, or as a peacemaker during the Peace Encampment at the Seneca Army Depot 25 years ago, or as a facilitator for the "Day Before" program promoted by the Syracuse Peace and Action Committee. Carman sold real estate for Abe Sharman, Bob Rosencrans and Teresa Dendis at Coldwell Banker. She was a graduate of the Finger Lakes School of Massage, skillfully and loving perform massages out of her home. When she retired, she spent significant time teaching and playing with her granddaughters. Carman spent winters in Naples, FL for the past eight years, making friends and playing poker. She was the hub of social activity in the "Dog Patch" at Rock Creek RV Resort. Hardly a night went by that Carman didn't have people stopping by for a chat and a nightcap on her front porch. Carman's other passion while in Florida was Texas Hold ‘Em, becoming an accomplished player, winning tournaments throughout Naples. Anyone who knew Carman will remember her fondly. She was so many things: sweet and kind, strong and opinionated, supportive and questioning, loving and playful. Her ability to connect, listen, and care was always insightful and filled with encouraging advice. She had a keen sense of humor and an infinite capacity to love. Her love of God and wonder of nature drove her thinking and beliefs and she always wanted the best for everyone. She was everything to her children and they will miss her with all of their hearts.
