Charles Chillis, 80, most recently of Seneca Falls and previously of Los Angeles, California, passed at his home after a brief illness. All services are private, held at the convenience of his family.
Charles was born in Mississippi, son of the late CW Chillis and Willie Mae Smith. At a young age he moved to Los Angeles, California where he grew up and attended local schools. Charles was a natural born athlete who excelled at football and played running back in high school. He was also a lifelong fan of the Denver Broncos.
A hard worker, he always held down multiple jobs, but his primary employer was US Medical Center in LA where he worked in the environmental serves department. In 2017, Charles and his daughter moved to Seneca Falls to be closer to his extended family. Known for his great sense of humor, Charles enjoyed spending time with others and was always down for a summertime cookout.
Charles is survived by his daughters, Lisa and Tracy Chillis; Goddaughter, Felicia Kelly; 8 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; brothers, Henry Stewart and Ammo Smith; and sister, Jessie Smith. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, Canius Smith.
