Donald L. ""The Colonel"" Clingerman

Donald L. Clingerman, 80 of Seneca Falls passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, in Geneva General Hospital on Sunday (June 17, 2012). Don "The Colonel", was born in Lyons, NY to Arlie and Helen (Osborn) Clingerman. Don was a life member of the Memorial Post #6433 V.F.W, Waterloo, NY. He served in the National Guard prior to serving in the U.S. Army during the Korean War from 1951 to 1953. He had previously worked for Mohawk Sand and Gravel in Phelps, now known as Hansen Sand and Gravel, and retired from The Town of Seneca Falls in 1981. After retiring Don was know as "The Locator"; if you needed it he could find it. He was a friend to many and especially enjoyed connecting with family near and far. He loved antique cars and enjoyed his time hunting and fishing. A reception will be held from 3 - 5 PM on Wednesday (June 20) at Donald O'Connor's residence, 21 Anthony Dr., Seneca Falls, NY followed by calling hours for friends and family from 5 - 7 PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls. A graveside funeral service, with military honors, will be held in York Settlement Cemetery, in the Town of Huron NY at 10 AM Thursday (June 21). Following the graveside services friends and family, once again, are welcome to gather at the home of Donald O'Connor, 21 Anthony Dr., Seneca Falls, NY. The Memorial Post #6433 V.F.W. and the Warner-VanRiper Post #435 American Legion will conduct military honors at the funeral home on Wednesday (June 20) at 7 PM. Don is survived by Helen (Peggy) O'Connor Clingerman of Seneca Falls. Sons, Michael (Beth) O'Connor of Seneca Falls, Donald (Laura) O'Connor of Seneca Falls, William (Mary) O'Connor of Auburn, Richard (Vanessa) Clingerman and Ronald Clingerman, both of Seneca Falls. A daughter, Anne (George) Havelin of Seneca Falls. Brothers, Harley Clingerman of Florida, Edmond Clingerman of Central Square, NY. Sisters, Bertha Maracle of Canada and Mary Kilmer of Baldwinsville, NY. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, cousins and many friends. Don was pre-deceased, his parents as well as by sons, Robert O'Connor and Thomas Clingerman, two grandsons, Robert (BJ) O'Connor and Joseph Clingerman.
