Seneca Falls - Duane E. Rekemeyer, 94, of Auburn Road, Seneca Falls, NY, died Monday (December 2, 2013) at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, NY. Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Saturday (December 7) from 9 AM to 11 AM followed by a funeral service at 11 AM at the funeral home with Reverend Thomas Easttey, Pastor of First United Methodist Church, Waterloo, NY, officiating. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Oak Hill Cemetery, McDuffietown, Town of Varick, NY. If desired, contributions may be made to the Building Fund of the Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, 48 State St., Seneca Falls, NY 13148 or to the charity of one's choice. Duane was born in Gloversville, NY on August 18, 1919 the son of the late William H. & Frances Clancy Rekemeyer. He was a graduate of Gloversville High School, Rochester Business Institute, and Rochester Institute of Technology. He was a member of the Waterloo United Methodist Church, The Pocahontas Lodge 211 F. & AM, Seneca Falls, the Salem Town 173 Royal Arch Masons, Seneca Falls, a life member of the Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, Seneca Falls, & the Lt. Cyrus Garnsey Post #1323 VFW, Seneca Falls. He was a former member of the Fort Myers, FL. Kiwanis Club, the Rochester Elks Lodge #2225, the Seneca Falls Country Club, the Red Jacket Yacht Club, & the 1st Infantry Division Society. Duane was a veteran of the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star and had served as a 1st Sergeant in the 1st Infantry Division from 1940 to 1945. He was involved in several combat landings including Omaha Beach with the 16th Infantry Regimental Combat team. He worked for Eastman Kodak Co. for several years before moving to Seneca County in 1951. He retired from Gould's Pumps in 1981 with 30 years of service. He is survived by 2 daughters, Kathy (David) Ragan, Waterloo, NY, Gail (Michael) Williams, Owensboro, KY, 6 grandchildren, 1 brother, Robert Rekemeyer, Johnstown, NY, 3 sisters, Joan Rekemeyer & Betty (Donald) Kested , both of Gloversville, NY, & June Briggs, Tucson, AZ., several nieces and nephews, and Marion Bartran, a good friend & a loyal companion. He was predeceased in death by his 1st wife, Mary Emens Rekemeyer who died in 1988, 2 sons, Mark & Patrick Rekemeyer, a sister, Arlene Rekemeyer, & 2 brothers, Donald Rekemeyer & William Rekemeyer Jr. Please visit: doranfuneralhome.com
