Fern Batson-Cronin, most recently of Seneca Falls, passed away at her home unexpectedly, on Tuesday, October 22nd, 2024. A time for family and friends to gather will be held on Monday, November 11th from 1 – 3 PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Donations in Fern’s memory may be made to Seneca Falls It’s a Wonderful Life Museum at wonderfullifemuseum.com.
Fern grew up in the Vernon, NY before relocation to the Utica area, and finally finding her niche in the Finger Lakes, most recently, Seneca Falls. Fern loved the area and everything it offered. An outdoorsperson at heart, she loved to be outside with nature and loved to fish along Van Cleef Lake. She also loved the annual It’s a Wonderful Life Festival, every year it was a tradition for her and her family to take in the festivities. Fern also enjoyed crafting of all types. She was into jewelry making, knitting and crocheting, and anything that required an immense attention to detail. She also had a deep love for not only her pets, but all animals. She had a big heart with an even bigger smile.
Fern is survived by her mother, Joan Batson; son, Cayden Burleson; biological siblings, Anthony Moody and Carol Hopewell; adoptive siblings, Andrea (David) Brown and Jose Batson; aunts, Judy Schrader and Margaret (Kenneth) Batson; special cousin, Jennifer (Rick) Waskewicz, longtime boyfriend, Jonathan Preston; several nieces, nephews, and extended family and friends. Fern was predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Gladys Batson.
