Seneca Falls - "Giese" Flavian X. Giese, 96, formerly of Maple St., Seneca Falls, NY, died Sunday (April 1, 2012) at Wayne County Nursing Home, Lyons, NY surrounded by his loving family. Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, on Thursday (April 5) from 4 - 7 PM to conclude with military honors at 7 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday (April 6) at 10 AM at the funeral home with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor of St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls, officiating. Burial will be in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. If desired, contributions may be made to the Senior Center, 1 DiPronio Drive, Waterloo, NY 13165. Flavian was born in Black River Falls, WI. on January 8, 1916 the son of the late Francis & Catherine Giese. He was a veteran of World War II serving in the U.S. Army - European Theatre from April 1941 to February 1946. He was awarded the American Service medal, American Defense Service Medal, Good conduct Medal, EAME Service medal, and the World War II Victory medal. He resided in Seneca Falls most of his life and was retired from the former GTE Sylvania. He was a member of the Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, Seneca Falls and the Quarter Century Club of the former GTE Sylvania. In 2008 he was recipient of the Senior Citizen of the Year award. He is survived by: His wife of 57 years - Ann DeJohn Giese - of Seneca Falls, NY 1 daughter - Susan Giese (Veronica Wemes) - Seneca Falls, NY 4 sisters - Marcella Mitchell - of Nevada Petronilla Saprano - of Liverpool, NY Bernie Stowell - of Waterloo, NY Zita Furhrer - of Ohio Grandchildren - Tanya (Bush) Tyler Rick (Kimberly) Bush Tricia Kisor Great Grandchildren - Brandon DiCiccio Madison Tyler Mikayla, Jenna, Jason, and Lila Bush And several nieces and nephews Extended Family - Cindy (Rogers) Ryan Chris (Rogers) Budd In addition to his parents he was predeceased by sisters - Seraphia & Lillian, and (infant sister) Zora And a thank you to all the special caregivers at the Wayne County Nursing Home
