John Giardina

Cayuga - John Giardina, 84, of Route 90 North, Cayuga, NY, died unexpectedly on Sunday, August 5, 2012, at Auburn Community Hospital, Auburn, NY. John was born in the Town of Montezuma, NY on October 23, 1927. The son of the late Salvatore Giardina and Lucia Cefaratti; he was a lifelong resident of the Town of Montezuma, where he owned and operated his family farm for many years. A graduate of Empire State College, John earned a Bachelor's of Science degree. John served as Town Justice for the Town of Montezuma for eight years. John also served as Supervisor of the Town of Montezuma for twenty years. John was a member of the Montezuma Democratic Committee, having acted as chairman. John was a lifelong member and former treasurer of the Montezuma Volunteer Fire Department. John was a former mail carrier for the Cayuga, NY Post Office. John was a member of many farm boards over the years. He is survived by: His wife, Anne Long Giardina of Cayuga, NY 2 daughters: Mary Elizabeth and her husband Mark Kroetsch, of Grand Island, NY Annemarie Rollins of River View, Florida 2 grandchildren: Andrew and Peter Kroetsch 3 nephews: Andre and his wife Paula Capoen II, of La Plata, Maryland Andre Capoen III also of La Plata, Maryland Brendon and his wife Amanda Capoen, of Hughesville, Maryland 1 niece: Concetta Capoen, of La Plata, Maryland 1 grandnephew: Vincent Capoen, of Hughesville, Maryland Family & friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY, on Thursday (August 9) from 5 -7 PM. Funeral services and burial will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations, in memory of John, to Montezuma Fire Department, Route 90 North, Montezuma, NY 13117.
