John R. ""Bubby"" Wanner

Seneca Falls - John R. "Bubby" Wanner, 34 of Ovid St., Seneca Falls, NY, died Wednesday (December 9, 2015) at Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY with his family at his side. Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY on Sunday (December 13) from 2 - 5 PM. John's Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Reverend James Fennessy on Monday (December 14) at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, 97 W. Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Burial will be at the convenience of the family. John "Bubby" was born in Auburn, NY on October 2, 1981 the son of Raimond & Helen McDermott Wanner. He was a life resident of Seneca Falls and had been employed by Seneca County in the Youth Advocacy Program. He also had worked at Hillside in Romulus, NY. He was a member of the Kirk-Casey Post # American Legion of Seneca Falls. He was active in local dart leagues with many of his long time friends, loved football and was an avid NY Giants fan. John was passionate about many things including cooking, animal rescue (his dog Buddy) and putting others first, no matter what the need. He loved to laugh and spend time with his family and friends. His sense of humor was not only one of a kind but encompassed his way of life. In a recent article in the Finger Lakes Times we learned that John "Bubby" was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic leukemia in late November of 2011. He received treatment at University of Rochester Medical Center's Wilmot Cancer Institute. He was in remission for 3 years and upon it's return in February of this year he received a bone marrow transplant with his brother as his donor. Even with his relapse last month John fought tirelessly and lived everyday with courage strength and love.
