Joseph A. Hansen

Joseph Alan Hansen, 63, of Farmington, NY passed away unexpectedly on September 10, 2021. Joe was one of six children of Raymond G. Hansen Sr. and Eleanor (Keene) Hansen. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy where he learned his vocation as a HVAC technician and was employed at the University of Rochester at the time of his passing. Joe is survived by his four siblings: Raymond Hansen, Jr. (Sandy Giamalis), Joanne Hansen, William Hansen (Joslyn), and Theodore Hansen (Jennifer). He also leaves behind to cherish his memory Jane Atkachonis, many more close friends referred to as his "Marina Family", several nieces and nephews as well as many cousins. He was predeceased by his parents, his eldest brother James Hansen, and his beloved golden retriever Abby.

Known for his infectious smile and signature dance moves, Joe was the life of any gathering. The stories of his adventures and antics are legendary and will be the memories to be told for a lifetime to come. Joe loved golf and a good cigar. He was happiest on his boat "Smokin' Joe" either cruising on Seneca Lake or moored at Inland Harbor Marina with his extended family. During the week, he worked hard as a dedicated worker for his employer and on the weekends, he played hard with friends and family. He sure made the most of his time. His life was cut short - but he loved the life he lived.

His family will celebrate his life with friends and relatives on Saturday, October 2, 2021. Calling hours will be from 10:00AM to 12:00PM followed by a Memorial Service at 12:00 PM at the Doran Funeral Home, 30 Center St. Waterloo, NY. Private burial for Joe (and Abby) will be at the convenience of his family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in his name to your local Humane Society or a charity of the donor's choice.
