Marion was born in Lowville, NY, the daughter of the late Albert and Mildred Higman. She graduated from Carthage High School and went on to receive her degree in education from SUNY Cortland. Marion began her teaching career at Cato-Meridian Central School where she met and was united in marriage with the late Edward Furletti. She taught until she and Ed started their family and she decided to stay home and raise her 4 sons. Once the boys were old enough, she went back to teaching fourth grade at Red Creek Central School; a career that spanned more than 31 years until her retirement. Marion loved music, and especially playing the piano when her busy schedule allowed. She was also an avid reader. But beyond everything, she loved spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren.
Marion is survived by her sons, Jim (Carolyn), Chris (Jenny), David (Amy), Chuck (Lisa); grandchildren, Geoffry (Anna), Matthew, Kelsey, Ryan, Ethan, Alyson, Owen, Logan, Samuel; great-grandchildren, Avery, Parker, Adeline; brother, Richard (Jeanne) Higman of Pittsburgh, PA; sister, Cynthia Kilburn of Carthage, NY, as well as nieces, nephews, extended family and dear friends. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Edward in 2001.
