Matthew A. Blair

Matthew Blair, 77, of Seneca Falls and previously of Sausalito, California, ascended into Heaven on Sunday, January 19th, 2025. A time for visitation will be held on Monday, January 27th from 5 – 7PM at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls.

Matt was born in Georgia and grew up in California. He graduated from high school and went on to further his education at Purdue University, where he received his bachelor’s in business. On March 19, 1995, he was united in marriage with the love of his life, Joanne (Voss) Blair. For many years, Matt worked in the insurance field as a manager for State Fund in California. It was after he retired in 2014, and drawn to the charm of the Finger Lakes, that Matt and Joanne relocated to Seneca Falls.

While only in town a short while, Matt found himself wanting to get involved in the Seneca Falls community. He was currently serving as a member of the planning board and had been on the zoning board for years prior to that. It was through his serving that he became acquainted with other likeminded people that would become his friends.

Outside of his community involvement, Matt loved sports of all kinds. He was a big fan of the LA Lakers, the Golden State Warriors, and the Buffalo Bills. He also enjoyed gardening, spending time in his back yard, and spending time with his family and close friends. He was also a very spiritual man who will be dearly missed by all that knew him.

Matt is survived by his beloved wife, Joanne; daughters, Veronika (Wanda Taveras) Blair and Samantha Blair; K9 companion and shadow, Spooky; and all the friends he made along the way. He was predeceased by his parents, Frederick Blair and Dorothy (Reeves) Blair.
