Norma A. (VanGelder) Litzenberger

Norma A. Litzenberger, 89, of Seneca Falls, passed at Huntington Living Center in Waterloo on Tuesday, February 4th, 2025. A private graveside service will be held in the Springtime at Sand Hill Cemetery in Stanley, NY. Donations in memory may be directed to Beverly Animal Shelter at beverlyanimalshelter.com.

Norma was born in Gorham, NY, daughter of the late Otis and Selma (Church) VanGelder. On July 3rd, 1954, she married Clinton Litzenberger Jr., the couple sharing 51 years together until Clinton’s passing in 2006. Norma was a stay-at-home mom to her nine children, and enjoyed making sure her family was well taken care of. Some of her hobbies included shuffleboard, being outdoors, especially during the warm summer months, camping and traveling with her children in later years. She loved watching the Golden Girls reruns, and kept her mind sharp with the wordsearch puzzles. She was also a member of the Seneca Community Church in Romulus.

Norma is survived by her children, Pamela (Charles) Ayers, Frank Litzenberger, Thomas Litzenberger, Margie (Tom Truax) Litzenberger, Patricia Litzenberger, David Litzenberger, John (Jennifer Thorpe) Litzenberger; son-in-law, Michael Arno; nine grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and extended family. In addition to her husband Clinton, she was predeceased by two daughters, Dallas Litzenberger and Joanne Arno; daughter-in-law, Monya Litzenberger; and six siblings.

We as a family, wish to thank the extraordinary care from her daughter Patricia, plus the nurses and staff of Huntington's, including the exceptional aides that went above and beyond.
