Emblem

Pietro “Peter” Soscia, lifelong resident of Seneca Falls, passed away with his family by his side at Geneva General Hospital on Saturday, December 7th, 2024. At this time there are no public services. Memorial donations in memory may be directed to local animal shelters and food pantries.

Peter was born in Seneca Falls, the youngest son of Italian immigrants, Giovanni and Theresa (Cicellino) Soscia. He was a Mynderse Academy graduate and worked towards an associate’s degree in business from Cayuga County Community College. Upon graduation he joined the US Army and served proudly for 4 years. He returned to Seneca Falls where he met Leilani Haston, and was united in marriage with her on January 12th, 1963, at St. Patrick’s Church in Seneca Falls. Following in the footsteps of his father, Peter worked for Goulds Pumps, retiring after over 40 years with the company. Even after retirement and up until 2022, Peter dedicated himself to Goulds in a freelance capacity, inspecting most any part that left their facility. Outside of his dedicated work ethic, Pete enjoyed hunting and fishing and had a genuine interest in the well-being of others around him. He always strived to be an exemplary husband to his wife, father to his children, and grandfather to his grandchildren. His generosity towards others knew no bounds and he will be deeply missed.

Pietro is survived by his wife of 61 years, Leilani; son, Peter (Pamela) Soscia Jr., daughter, Cinnamon (Ronald) Hunt, grandchildren, Vicki (Joe) DiFranco, Peter (Katie) Soscia III, Ryan Hunt; great-grandchildren, Jake and Josh DiFranco, Ellie Soscia; sisters, Margorie Sexton, Nancy Verone, Rose Melton; several nieces and nephews and extended family. Peter was predeceased by his parents and brothers, John and Louis.
