Robert "Bob" Shields Kenney, beloved husband and father, formerly of Seneca Falls, New York, passed on to new life with Christ on December 8, 2020, at the age of 84. He's now reunited with his predeceased loved ones after a valiant battle with chronic medical conditions. Just like he dealt with all experiences in life, Bob managed his illness with bold strength, tenacity and courage.
Bob graduated from Mynderse Academy in Seneca Falls, New York and RBI. He also served in the Army in Chicago for two years. He went on to work as a contract administrator for major engineering corporations throughout the U.S. Bob traveled the world and lived in multiple areas throughout his lifetime of business adventures. Bob lived, just as his home town Seneca Falls, New York is known for, "A Wonderful Life". He also dabbled for a short period of time with his own air conditioning business, while building a lake home on Cayuga Lake as well as a home in Trussville Alabama.
Bob was an avid hunter and loved to hunt with his close friends (Joe, John, Ed). He especially loved duck hunting with his son, Rich. He was the go to "Mr. fix it" in the family from anything from cars, appliances, to finances and contracts.
He will be fondly remembered by his amazing, witty, albeit irreverent sense of humor and straight shooter personality. He was a devoted husband and committed father to his family whose generous spirit and direct "straight forward", "mince no words" "tell it like it is" demeanor impacted all who crossed his path. Bob's indomitable spirit was a true example to his family and friends of how to persevere in the face of life's trials and tribulations. He was married to his high school sweetheart Gertrude "Gil", who supported him throughout their many adventures together and lovingly supported him physically and emotionally during their last days together.
Bob is survived by his wife of 63 years Gertrude L. Kenney, daughter Nancy K. Bowers (Michael Bowers) and grandchildren Patrick Bowers (Kelly Bowers), Lizzy Bowers, son Richard Kenney (Theresa Kenney) and grandchildren Lauren Kenney, Nico Kenney and daughter Patricia Kenney. He is also survived by his sister Marlene Taylor (Bob Taylor).
A live streamed funeral service, will be held at Christ the King Catholic Church in Milwaukie, Oregon on December 16, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. for immediate family and friends. A committal service will be held on December 19, 2020 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Columbkille Cemetery in Seneca Falls, New York. Memorial donations may be sent to the Alzheimer's Association
