Seneca Falls/Newark - Roland E. Lind, 88, of Balsley Rd., Seneca Falls, formerly of Newark, NY, died Sunday (March 18, 2012) at Huntington Living Center, Waterloo, NY. Family and friends may attend Roland's Memorial Service on Friday (March 23) at 2 PM at First United Methodist Church, State Street, Seneca Falls, NY with Reverend Eleanor Collinsworth, Pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in Restvale Cemetery, Seneca Falls. If desired, contributions may be made to Beverly Animal Shelter, River Road, Waterloo, NY 13165. Roland was born in Seneca Falls on November 11, 1923 the son of the late William and Lydia Scheuerman Lind. He had resided in Newark, NY for 40 years prior to moving back to Seneca Falls in 2010. He was a World War II veteran of the U.S. Army Air Corps serving as a pilot on B-24's. He also severed as a pilot instructor. He was a retired draftsman for Garlock Inc. of Palmyra, NY and had also worked as a draftsman for the former Seneca Falls Machine Shop. He was member of the Newark United Methodist Church, Newark, NY, a member of the Kirk-Casey Post #366 American Legion, Seneca Falls and a former member of the Newark American Legion. Roland was a history buff who enjoyed anything to do with aeronautics. He was a former B-24 pilot and instructor during World War II. He was an avid sports fan especially when it came to his Cincinnati Reds and his love of fishing. Roland and his late wife, Lois helped with the "Meals on Wheels" program in Newark, NY for 15 years.. He is survived by: 2 sisters - Joyce Blake - Texas Irene DelRusso - Rochester, NY 1 brother - Harold "Cherry" (Ruth) Lind - Seneca Falls, NY Several nieces and nephews In addition to his parents, Roland was predeceased by his wife, Lois Yost Lind, his daughter, Nancy Frisch, his son, Randolph Lind, and 2 brothers, Leslie & Howard Lind.
