Seneca Falls - Samuel J. VanDitto, 101, of Bridge St., Seneca Falls, NY, passed away on Saturday (September 15, 2018) at the Bath V. A. Medical Center, Bath, NY.
Family and friends may attend Sam's Mass of Christian Burial on Saturday (September 22) at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls, with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor, as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery, Seneca Falls. There will be no prior calling hours. If desired, contributions, in memory of Sam, may be made to the charity of one's choice.
Sam was born in Seneca Falls, NY on September 25, 1916 the son of the late William & Josephine Rossi VanDitto. He was a life resident of Seneca Falls and had served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He had owned and operated the former Rathskeller Bar in Seneca Falls. In 1968 he sold the Rathskeller and went to work as a Expeditor at Gould's Pumps in Seneca Falls. He was a member of St. Patrick's Church, Seneca Falls and the Kirk Casey Post #366 American Legion of Seneca Falls. Sam loved to hunt and fish and was a big New York Yankee Fan. He was always very proud of the fact that he swam across the north end of Cayuga Lake and into Cayuga County.

In addition to his parents, Sam was predeceased by his wife, Dora Giovannini VanDitto who died June 17, 2005, his sister, Margaret Giovannini who died May 10, 1998, and a niece, Barbara Giovannini who died June 18, 2013.
Arrangements are under the direction of Doran Funeral Home, Seneca Falls, NY.
