Seneca Falls: Sanford Kimpel, 95, of Seneca Falls passed away on Wednesday, December 1st, 2021, at Geneva General Hospital. Visitation will be on Friday, December 10th at Doran Funeral Home, 4 East Bayard St., Seneca Falls from 11 AM - 1 PM with a funeral service officiated by Rev. George Walter of Fingerlakes Community Church to immediately follow. Masks will be required for all attending services. A livestream of the service can be found at DoranFuneralHome.com. Interment with military honors to follow at Restvale Cemetery in Seneca Falls. Sanford was born in Syracuse, NY, the son of the late George and Grace (Wright) Kimpel. He grew up in the Syracuse area and worked for Stickley Furniture before serving in the US Army during World War II. Upon his discharge from the Army, he relocated to Seneca Falls to work for Sylvania, and settled down with his wife, Clementia. After a career of over 30 years with Sylvania, Sanford retired from Sylvania and then worked for DeVivi Lumber for over 10 years as well as Ferrara Lumber until his health required him to slow down at the age of 89. Sanford enjoyed working hard, hunting, fishing, dancing, and country music. For several years, he was the cook at Star Riders Horse Club. He was a member of the Seeley B. Parish American Legion Post 457 in Phelps, VFW American Legion Post 6433 in Waterloo, and the Finger Lakes Moose Lodge 823 in Waterloo.
Sanford is survived by his children, David (Karen) Kimpel, Elizabeth (Shawn) Crelley, Steven (Trudy) Kimpel; grandchildren, Chris (Andrea Baker) Kimpel, Jena (Paul) Plant, Jedadiah (Mary) Crelley, Matthew (Lilah) Crelley, Ashley (Josh) Kierst, Justin (Jessica) Kimpel; thirteen great-grandchildren; half-sister, Sharon (Bob) Stanton; fiancé of 15 years, Ida Bump, as well as several nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. In addition to his parents, he is predeceased by his beloved wife of 56 years, Clementia, who passed on January 30, 2004; great-granddaughter, Corinne Crelley; as well as his nine siblings who have gone to pass before him.
