Susan grew up and was raised in the Providence, RI area, the daughter of the late Benjamin and Edith (Flinker) Paris. She attended and graduated from local schools before embarking on her higher education journey. She received her Bachelor of Science in Social Work from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, OH, before coming to Rochester, NY, where she attended the University of Rochester and finally received her Master's in Social Work from Syracuse University. It was during her time in Cleveland when she met the man who would become her husband, Robert Greenberg. The couple were married on September 11th, 1964 and shared 45 years together before Robert's passing in 2009.
Susan worked for many local organizations in the area as a Social Worker and retired from Five Points Correctional Facility after many years. It was in 1994 that the family moved from Avon, NY to the Waterloo area. In addition to her chosen career, Susan advocated for others in her personal life. She was the co-founder of the Rochester Rape Crisis Center and in her youth was involved with the Freedom Riders during the Civil Rights Movement.
Those that knew her well, knew of Susan's generous nature and big heart. She loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren. She also enjoyed making beaded earrings and dream catchers and was a big Buffalo Bills fan.
Susan is survived by her son, William; grandchildren, Hayle and Malakai; sister-in-law, Joann (George Jannini) Greenberg; a niece, Polly, cousins, and extended family. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her sister, Judith Stein.
