Waterloo - Thelma I. Kelsey, 89, passed away on the evening of January 12, 2019. Thelma left the care of her loving family and after 46 years apart was reunited with the love of her life, Cecil "Eve".
Family and friends may call at the Doran Funeral Home, 4 E. Bayard St., Seneca Falls, NY on Thursday (January 17) from
4 PM to 5 PM followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 5 PM with Reverend James Fennessy, Pastor of St. Francis/St. Clare Parish, officiating. Spring burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Waterloo, NY. If desired, contributions may be made to Alzheimer's Association, Central New York Chapter, 441 W. Kirkpatrick St., Syracuse, NY 13204
Thelma was born in Waterloo, NY on February 28, 1929 the daughter of the late Joseph & Alice (Estes) DelPapa. As a young woman, she began employment at Mid-State Body Works where she and Cecil met. While raising a family she continued her employment as a devoted caregiver for the mentally disabled at both Sampson and Willard & later retiring from the Newark Developmental Center.
Thelma enjoyed many pastimes including bowling, soaking up the warmth of the sun, gardening and crafting with the Canoga Cuties. She was most proud of her five granddaughters who treasure the numerous sleepovers which included special sleep mats, Mexican sundaes, endless games, peanut butter toast, lots of bacon and endless love only a Grandmother could give.
She is survived by:
Daughter - Linda (Bill) Cook - Waterloo
Son - Jeffrey (Lisa) Kelsey - Varick
Grandchildren - Ashleen (Nick Mitchell), Lauren, & Sara Cook, Michelle (Tom) Lapp & Heather (Randall) Dove
Great granddaughter - Ellanora Dove and soon to arrive great grandson Baby Lapp.
Sisters - Velma (Paul) Avveduti - Canoga
Gladys DelPapa - Waterloo
Several nieces and nephews
In addition to her parents, Thelma was predeceased by her husband, Cecil who died August 2, 1972, Sisters- Mary Hauf, Alice Young, Emma Eddington, Helen Erway, Annabelle DelPapa, & Clara Nelson.
