Vita Mary (Verzillo) Felice

Vita "Mary" Felice, 95, lifelong resident of Seneca Falls, passed away on Thursday, October 12th, 2023 at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic, with her children at her side. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 17th at 10AM at St. Patrick's Church, 97 West Bayard St., Seneca Falls. Interment will follow in St. Columbkille Cemetery where Mary will be laid to rest next to her late husband, Frederick. In lieu of flowers, donations in memory may be made to the Seneca Falls PBA, 130 Ovid St., Suite 101, Seneca Falls, NY 13148.

Mary was born in Seneca Falls, NY, the youngest child of Orazioantonio and Lella (DiDio) Verzillo. She graduated from Mynderse Academy, Class of 1945. On May 8, 1948 at St. Patrick's Church, she was united in marriage with Frederick Felice. The couple shared 56 years of marriage until Frederick's passing in 2004. Early on in their marriage, Mary was primarily a homemaker. It wasn't until her children had started school that she went out and joined the workforce. She worked for years as a cashier in the cafeteria at Mynderse Academy before starting a career as a dispatcher with the Seneca Falls Police Department. She was the first woman to work for the department and worked from 1970 until her retirement in 1986. Initially she worked as a dispatcher, but eventually found herself as the village's parking enforcement officer as well.

Mary was an excellent cook and thoroughly enjoyed embroidering and spending time with her family. She was also a very devout catholic and a life member at St. Patrick's Church.

Mary is survived by her son, Ronald (Kathleen) Felice; daughter, Patricia (Vincent) Carnevale; daughter-in-law, Lori Felice; nine grandchildren, Stephanie, Christopher, Dennis, Michael, Michelle, Kimberly, Anthony, Sherri, Cassie; thirteen great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Mary was predeceased by her son, Dennis Felice; brother, Vito Verzillo, and sister, Elizabeth Harding.
